Chris wrote an interesting post about culture nuances in marketing within even one country and one market. It’s true and I got an interesting example on this.

In one advertising booklet of entertaining mobile services (“backgrounds, ringtones for your mobile – just send *** on number *** to get it” etc.) I saw a reprint of a funny image from internet community. And there are a lot of them! People think that if they will just reprint the thing everybody is already laughing in internet will be popular elsewhere. That is the problem, when it goes out from the internet – it loses it’s popularity very fast. Because it’s taken from another culture. Things that were made in special fun sites, blogs (livejournal.com) belongs to that culture. And in order to be innovative you have to either adapt it somehow (I’m not sure if it’s possible) either make something new.

Culture nuances – that’s the key.
